Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir. He called the region the “crown of India” and emphasized the government’s commitment to its growth.
The 6-kilometre Z-Morh Tunnel will improve accessibility, reducing travel time between Srinagar and Sonamarg. This project will also ensure year-round connectivity, especially during winter months when snow blocks roads.
During the inauguration, Modi stressed the need to remove all obstacles in the region’s path to development. “Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of India, and we aim to make it more beautiful and prosperous,” he said.
The Z-Morh Tunnel will not only ease travel but also boost tourism. With easier access, the region is likely to see an increase in visitors, benefiting local businesses and creating new employment opportunities.
The tunnel also supports the broader goal of enhancing infrastructure in the state. Modi mentioned plans to improve railway connectivity and further develop the tourism sector. These efforts will provide more opportunities for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other leaders attended the ceremony, showing support for the government’s initiatives.
This new infrastructure project is expected to be a turning point for Jammu and Kashmir, unlocking its potential and providing long-term benefits to its residents.
