Record-Breaking Devotee Turnout at Mahakumbh 2025 as Millions Gather for Sacred Dip
The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with more than seven crore devotees, Kalpavasis, and revered seers taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam—the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati—within just six days, officials confirmed on Friday.
The Uttar Pradesh government has projected an attendance of over 45 crore people throughout the event, posing significant challenges in crowd management. To ensure safety, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Prayagraj) announced that prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, will remain in effect until February 28 as a precautionary measure.
Adding to the spiritual fervor, international devotees have been captivated by the grandeur of the Mahakumbh, describing it as an “amazing and fantastic experience” and admiring the deep-rooted devotion and traditions of India.
Meanwhile, authorities in Ayodhya are gearing up for an influx of pilgrims visiting the newly inaugurated Ram temple after the Mahakumbh festivities. Commissioner Gaurav Dayal stated that special arrangements are being made to accommodate the rising number of visitors, especially following the ‘Shahi Snan’ on January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), which is expected to draw even larger crowds.
