Manipal, 25 November 2025: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed-to-be University, marked a special start to its 33rd Convocation with the launch of a unique commemorative postal cover in honour of its Chancellor, Dr. Ramdas R. Pai, on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The initiative celebrated the visionary leadership and transformative contributions of Dr. Pai, whose work has shaped the educational and healthcare landscape of Manipal over decades.
The launch took place on the first day of the convocation at KMC Greens, Manipal, in the presence of senior leadership, distinguished guests, faculty members, graduates, and their families. The event not only recognised the academic accomplishments of MAHE’s students but also paid tribute to the enduring legacy of its Chancellor. The postal cover serves as a symbol of respect for Dr. Pai’s lifelong dedication to education, healthcare, and community development.
The special postal cover was formally unveiled by Sri Ramesh Prabhu, Superintendent of India Post, Udupi Division, alongside MAHE’s First Lady, Mrs. Vasanti R. Pai, Pro-Chancellor Dr. H. S. Ballal, and other eminent dignitaries. This collaborative effort with India Post highlights the national significance of Dr. Pai’s service and his visionary leadership in building Manipal into a globally recognised institution.
The commemorative cover also reflects the foundational values laid by Dr. T. M. A. Pai, whose mission to combat ill health, illiteracy, and poverty established the basis for Manipal’s growth. Dr. Ramdas Pai expanded on this vision, steering MAHE to new heights, including achieving the prestigious Institute of Eminence status in 2020. Speaking at the ceremony, Sri Ramesh Prabhu remarked, “It is the privilege of India Post to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of a great personality and reformer of Manipal. Dr. Ramdas Pai’s contributions have elevated the city and MAHE to national and global prominence. We feel truly blessed to be a part of this historic moment.”
