Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, 19 November 2025 – The Prime Minister addressed the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, beginning his remarks with “Sai Ram” and describing his visit to this sacred land as deeply emotional and spiritual. He noted that offering floral tributes at Baba’s Samadhi was a heartfelt experience.
Highlighting that service Seva is at the heart of Indian civilization, the Prime Minister said the guiding principle of “Sevo Paramo Dharmah” has sustained the nation through centuries of change. He observed that Sri Sathya Sai Baba placed the ideal of service at the core of life and transformed spirituality into active human welfare.
Though Baba is no longer physically present, his teachings and spirit of service continue to guide millions across more than 140 countries, he added. Calling this centenary year a “grand festival” of universal love, peace and service, the Prime Minister noted the Government has issued a commemorative ₹100 coin and a postal stamp in his honour.
He extended warm greetings to Baba’s devotees, volunteers and followers worldwide.
The Prime Minister emphasised that whether one follows the path of devotion (Bhakti), knowledge (Gyan) or action (Karma), all ultimately lead to service of humanity. He asked: what is Bhakti without service to the divine in others? What is Gyan if it does not spark compassion? And what is Karma if it is not work for society?
He remarked that Baba’s foundation in education, health, rural development and other areas shows that spirituality and service are two sides of one coin. Even though Baba is gone, the institutions he inspired are still growing and serving people daily. This shows truly great souls grow in influence, even after passing.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Baba’s message has not remained confined to ashrams or books. From cities to remote villages, from schools to tribal settlements, his service-oriented work is visible. He recalled Baba’s mantra: “Love All, Serve All”, and added that his other guiding thoughts—“Help Ever, Hurt Never” and “Less Talk, More Work” continue to inspire.
He praised the work of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, which has carried forward service in a structured, long-term way. He cited its efforts: laying over 3,000 km of pipeline for water supply in Rayalaseema; building 1,000 homes for flood-affected families in Odisha; operating hospitals with no billing counters for the poor. He also noted that over 20,000 accounts were opened under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in Baba’s name to support girls’ education and futures.
Reflecting on broader reforms, he said that welfare and social-security schemes have grown from covering 25 crore people in 2014 to nearly 100 crore today. He remarked that Indian practices like cow-donation for livelihood support are gaining international attention, citing examples from Rwanda and Brazil.
Urging citizens to strengthen the “Vocal for Local” ethos, the Prime Minister said supporting local products empowers families, micro-enterprises and supply chains, paving the way for a self-reliant India.
He concluded by extending his best wishes and blessings to Baba’s family, institutions, volunteers and devotees around the world, confident they will carry the mission of love, peace and service forward.
