The teaser for Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh, a film commemorating 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been released, capturing attention nationwide. Coinciding with the organisation’s centenary, the film traces the RSS’s journey, ideology, and contributions to Indian society.
The teaser has sparked extensive discussion, with several notable figures reacting to the project. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev had earlier shown his support, and now actor Ajay Devgn has publicly endorsed the film, adding momentum to the buzz. While previous attempts to portray the Sangh on screen have faced challenges, Shatak is the first cinematic project to receive open encouragement from within the organisation’s ecosystem.
Congratulating the RSS on completing a century, Ajay Devgn tweeted, “RSS ko sau saal poore hone par dher saari badhaaiyan! Inn sau saalon mein rashtra nirmaan mein sangh ka bada yogdaan raha hai. Iss kaam par aur roshni daalne aa rahi hai film #Shatak. Yeh rahi uski pehli jhalak. Shatak ke sampurn team ko meri ore se dher saari shubhkamnaye!” (Heartfelt congratulations to the RSS on completing 100 years. Over the past century, the Sangh has played a significant role in nation-building. The film Shatak seeks to highlight this journey. Here’s a first glimpse. Best wishes to the entire team behind the film.)
Earlier, the song Bhagwa Hai Apni Pehchaan from the film was launched at the RSS headquarters, Keshav Kunj in Delhi, by RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat, with blessings from Shri Bhaiya ji Joshi.
Opening with the line, “This is the story of an idea that many tried to erase again and again over the years,” the teaser highlights the film’s aim to address misunderstandings and criticisms surrounding the Sangh by placing them in a historical context. It acknowledges key figures often overlooked, such as Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and Guruji Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar, alongside leaders like Lokmanya Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi. The teaser also touches on the RSS’s role during pivotal moments in Indian history, including the freedom struggle and the Emergency.
Directed by Aashish Mall and produced by Vir Kapur, the film is described by Mall as a deeply personal project. “This film has been like a personal journey for me. While working on it, many aspects related to the Sangh came to light that are rarely discussed. Our main aim was to honestly address the misunderstandings that exist in society,” he said.
Producer Vir Kapur adds that among movements that emerged between 1875 and 1950, the RSS stands out as the only organisation to continue its work uninterrupted. The film’s tagline, ‘Na ruke, na thake, na jhuke’ (Neither stop, nor tire, nor bow), reflects this enduring spirit.
A tribute to generations of selfless volunteers, Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh aims to inspire the spirit of nation-building and collective service. The film is slated for a nationwide release on 19 February 2026.
