Bengaluru is gearing up for Hiriyara Habba 2025, the city’s much-loved Elder’s Festival, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, Off MG Road, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This annual celebration honours the talents, wisdom, and invaluable contributions of senior citizens from Bengaluru and neighbouring areas. The festival offers a day of joy, connection, and community spirit, featuring cultural performances, traditional games, art displays, interactive discussions, and vibrant senior-led stalls. What makes Hiriyara Habba unique is its participatory approach—seniors take centre stage as performers, organisers, volunteers, and exhibitors, showcasing that aging is a period of creativity, engagement, and renewed purpose.
This year, Hiriyara Habba introduces new initiatives to address the evolving needs of older adults. Digital literacy and cybersecurity workshops will help seniors navigate technology confidently and safely, while comprehensive health screenings and wellness assessments, provided by partners including Khyaal, Cadabams, Aster DM, and Sodexo, empower seniors to proactively manage their health. Additionally, legal consultation and advisory services covering estate planning, property rights, elder abuse prevention, and safe caregiving practices will ensure seniors have access to essential legal protections. These additions strengthen the festival’s mission to support seniors in leading independent, secure, and informed lives.
Hiriyara Habba offers seniors and their families a chance to enjoy lively, meaningful moments together. From music and cultural showcases to traditional games and senior-run stalls, the festival sparks laughter, nostalgia, and heartfelt connections. It encourages seniors to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and embrace the joys of community life. “Community and social engagement are vital for cognitive health,” said Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairperson of Vayah Vikas. “Research shows that stimulating social environments play a key role in maintaining cognitive resilience as we age.” Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Health and founding member of Vayah Vikas, added, “Preventive health and awareness are essential for seniors to enjoy not just a longer life, but a healthier, more independent one. Regular monitoring and early detection can transform outcomes.”
A hallmark of Hiriyara Habba is its focus on intergenerational engagement. Families, youth volunteers, students, and community organisations actively participate alongside seniors, promoting shared learning, empathy, and respect. The festival reinforces that elder well-being thrives when communities and families support one another. Hiriyara Habba 2025 promises to be a vibrant celebration of aging with dignity, creativity, and joy. Everyone is invited to join in honouring seniors who continue to enrich society with their wisdom, experiences, and warmth.
