The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year from 2026. The move aims to reduce student stress and offer flexibility.
The first exam phase will be held in February-March, followed by a second in May. Students can appear for both exams and choose their best score.
On Tuesday, the national Board released its proposal for two Board exams, seeking public feedback until March 9. The final schedule will be announced before the new academic session begins. Here are the details.
The new system will help students improve their performance. Those unable to attend the first phase can appear in the second phase.
CBSE’s official notification outlines the structure and evaluation process. Schools will get detailed guidelines to prepare students for the new format.
Experts believe this change will promote learning over rote memorisation. It also aligns with global education standards that prioritise continuous assessment.
Parents and students are advised to stay updated through the official CBSE website for detailed schedules and instructions.
