Vijayadashami has long been associated with the victory of good over evil, justice over injustice and truth over falsehood. Drawing inspiration from these timeless ideas, KNK Box is set to bring a new Marathi film, ‘Dashami’, to audiences this October.
Produced and directed by Yogesh Pandurang Bhosale, the upcoming film explores themes of courage, conflict, power and the fight against injustice. The first poster of ‘Dashami’ was recently unveiled, offering audiences a glimpse into the mysterious world of the film.
The film takes inspiration from the broader symbolism associated with Vijayadashami. While Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana represents the triumph of righteousness, Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura is seen as a symbol of strength and courage. ‘Dashami’ attempts to connect these traditional ideas with contemporary social realities.
At the centre of the film is the belief that victory is not simply about defeating an opponent. It can also emerge from the courage to confront injustice and overcome difficult circumstances.
Director Yogesh Pandurang Bhosale said the film aims to give girls and families the confidence to stand against injustice. He described ‘Dashami’ as a journey of courage and truth rather than simply another cinematic story.
The film features a notable ensemble cast. It includes Mahesh Manjrekar, Makarand Anaspure, Vijay Nikam, Gauri Ingawale, Prasanna Ketkar, Devendra Gaikwad, Sham Mashalkar and Raj Kundan. South Indian actor Ravi Prakash is also part of the cast.
Beyond its themes, the film is expected to place considerable emphasis on its visual presentation and technical execution. The makers have described the production as having a large-scale visual treatment, with attention given to individual frames and the overall cinematic experience.
Suspense is another important element of ‘Dashami’. According to the makers, the story gradually unfolds through multiple layers of mystery. Rather than revealing its central secrets immediately, the narrative is designed to raise questions and introduce twists as the story progresses.
Suresh Pandit has handled the film’s writing and music. The combination of suspense, crime-thriller elements and social themes forms the foundation of the film.
Speaking about the project, Bhosale said the team wanted to connect the traditional message of Vijayadashami with issues relevant to audiences today. He added that the film aims to offer entertainment while also encouraging viewers to think about its central themes.
With an ensemble cast, a suspense-driven narrative and a story centred on courage and justice, ‘Dashami’ is gearing up for its theatrical release in October.
The film is produced and directed by Yogesh Pandurang Bhosale and is presented by KNK Box. ‘Dashami’ is scheduled to release in October.
