Cricket in India has always been more than a sport—it is an emotion that connects streets, grounds, and generations. Now, that emotion is stepping into a new professional era through tennis cricket, a format deeply rooted in grassroots culture. A major milestone in this journey was achieved on February 8, 2026, with the successful hosting of the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) and press conference of the Indian Tennis Cricket Sports Federation (ITCSF) in Thane.
The landmark event marked the formal beginning of a structured and ambitious roadmap for tennis cricket at the national level. It brought together state representatives, officials, and sports administrators, all united by a common vision—to elevate tennis cricket from a recreational pastime to a recognized professional sport.
The highlight of the occasion was the unanimous appointment of Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Shinde as the National President of ITCSF. Known for his dynamic leadership, progressive thinking, and strong advocacy for youth and sports development, Dr. Shinde’s appointment is being widely viewed as a turning point for tennis cricket in India.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shinde emphasized his commitment to giving tennis cricket a structured, transparent, and professional framework, drawing inspiration from the success of leagues such as the IPL. He stated that countless talented players across India lack access to formal platforms and recognition, and tennis cricket has the potential to bridge that gap by offering opportunities at district, state, national, and even international levels.
The AGM also witnessed the unveiling of the official ITCSF logo, symbolizing a fresh identity and renewed ambition for the federation. Additionally, appointment letters were formally distributed to state presidents from various regions of India as well as international representatives, reinforcing the federation’s growing global footprint.
With increasing participation, strong grassroots appeal, and now institutional backing, tennis cricket is poised to emerge as a career-oriented sport for young athletes. The leadership of Dr. Shrikant Shinde is expected to bring credibility, governance reforms, sponsorship opportunities, and organized tournaments that can transform the sport’s future.
The event concluded with a strong message tennis cricket is no longer confined to streets and local grounds. Under visionary leadership and national coordination, it is ready to take flight on a much larger stage.
