Actress, host, influencer and social worker Ekta Jain recently marked Gudi Padwa, the Marathi New Year, with a special festive shoot, once again expressing her strong bond with Indian traditions and cultural values. Through the celebration, she highlighted not only the joy of festivals but also her belief in preserving and sharing their deeper meaning.
Speaking on the occasion, Ekta Jain said, “I love all festivals of India. I celebrate each one wholeheartedly and make an effort to share its significance with people.” Her statement reflects a personal philosophy that has remained central to both her public image and personal life.
Born in Calicut and brought up in Gondia and Yavatmal in Maharashtra, Ekta Jain displayed versatility from a young age. She played handball at the state level as a goalkeeper and also took part in structured training programmes that shaped her disciplined approach to life. In 1995, she completed a civil defence course under the NCC cadet programme, and in 2004, she qualified as a certified first aider. After moving to Mumbai, she continued her education, trained in boxing and went on to win the title of Miss Malad.
Ekta began her artistic journey in theatre, where she was active between 1998 and 2001. During this period, she performed in Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit and Hinglish plays such as Abhishapt Karn, Meena Nu Maandvo, Udhav Samvaad, Babysitter and Bambai Ki Hawa Gayi Tabah. Her early work on stage laid a strong foundation for a diverse screen career.
She later appeared in several television shows including Family No. 1, Shakalaka Boom Boom, Shagun, Apun To Bas Waise Hi Yaar, Kahin Diya Jale Kahin Jiya and Naina. She also played the role of Ganga in a mythological series. In films, she featured in Taal, where she played the younger sister of Aishwarya Rai, and in Nayak – The Real Hero, where she portrayed a television reporter. She also appeared in Anjaane – The Unknown and later shared screen space with Dharmendra in Khali Bali.
Apart from acting, Ekta has hosted programmes such as Gapshap ane Shringar on DD Gujarati and Saas Bahu Aur Betiyan on Aaj Tak. She also stepped away from entertainment for a period to work as a senior cabin crew member with a reputed airline before returning to the industry. She has recently signed a podcast titled Life Unpacked and is associated with The Healing Circle, a wellness initiative focused on alternative healing.
Ekta Jain has also built a strong identity through social work. In 2022, she founded the DPP Trust, through which she supports women and underprivileged children by distributing sanitary pads and educational materials. During the pandemic, she participated in relief work by helping distribute PPE kits, sanitizers and ration supplies.
With more than 50 honours to her name since 2014, and with a pledge to donate her eyes and organs, Ekta Jain continues to balance art, service and purpose with conviction.
