As per the new rules, all international airlines and ships must submit passenger and crew details to the government in advance. This will help keep a check on people entering India and make it easier to track those staying illegally.
What are the penalties?
Anyone deliberately using fake passports, visas, or travel documents could face a minimum of two years in jail, which may be extended to seven years, along with a hefty fine.
Strict action against foreigners without valid documents
If a foreign national enters India without a valid passport or visa, they could face up to 5 years in jail, a fine of ₹5 lakh, or both.
