What happens when a dead grandfather becomes a divine family meddler?
The popular Gujarati comedy-drama Fakt Purusho Maate is set to make its digital debut on JOJO from 25th July 2025. After a strong theatrical run, the film is ready to charm audiences at home with its mix of humour, emotion, and a heavenly twist—featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s unforgettable cameo as God.
Directed by Jay Bodas and Parth Trivedi, the film centres around Purshottam, played by veteran actor Darshan Jariwala. After his death, Purshottam returns during the Shraadh period, armed with supernatural powers. His mission? To stop his grandson Brijesh (Yash Soni) from marrying Radhika (Esha Kansara)—a modern woman who doesn’t quite match Purshottam’s traditional ideals.
But this isn’t just a clash of characters. It’s a clash of generations. What follows is a comedic tug-of-war packed with family tensions, heartfelt moments, and thought-provoking dialogues. The film uses fantasy to explore real-life struggles—tradition vs modernity, control vs independence, and fear vs acceptance.
The film’s standout moment arrives when Amitabh Bachchan appears—voicing God with authority, wit, and warmth. Though brief, his cameo adds emotional weight and serves as a moral compass in the story. His dialogue leaves a lasting impact on both characters and viewers.
Speaking about the film’s streaming launch, Darshan Jariwala noted,
“Purshottam isn’t a villain. He truly believes he’s doing right, even when he’s outdated. That’s what makes him real. A lot of families have someone like that.”
Esha Kansara added,
“Radhika isn’t rebellious—she’s strong in silence. The story doesn’t lecture. It invites you to think.”
The film has earned praise for tackling sensitive topics like patriarchy, family control, and gender expectations with gentle humour. Critics called it a “social satire wrapped in laughter,” while viewers connected with its relatable moments and universal themes.
With support from cast members like Mitra Gadhvi and Aarti Vyas Patel, and music by Kedar-Bhargav that blends mood with message, Fakt Purusho Maate is more than just a comedy. It’s a conversation starter.
As the film heads to JOJO, it invites families to watch together and reflect together. Whether you’re here for Bachchan’s godly intervention or the generational fireworks, this Gujarati gem is set to entertain with a purpose.
