Prasar Bharati has teamed up with AEx SPORT to bring India its first professional wrestling league, Global League Wrestling (GLW). The national broadcaster signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AEx SPORT, the sports innovation arm of UK-based AdiGroupe, to deliver the event to Indian and global audiences.
The league will debut on 17 September 2025, with matches airing from 4 October on DD Sports, Prasar Bharati’s digital platform Waves, and All India Radio. The first season will run for 40 weeks, offering family-friendly, high-energy entertainment.
GLW aims to blend Indian cultural storytelling with global sports production standards. Matches will feature original characters, cinematic storylines, and a structured format designed to captivate both Indian and international viewers.
The Great Khali, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has joined as Brand Ambassador and Talent Commissioner. He will help scout, mentor, and guide Indian talent, giving them a chance to compete at the highest level.
According to Prasar Bharati, the partnership continues its mission to diversify sports coverage, building on ties with hockey, handball, and golf bodies. AEx SPORT says GLW will be a platform for Indian athletes to gain global recognition while staying rooted in cultural pride.
With its mix of sport, drama, and spectacle, GLW is set to redefine sports entertainment in India.
