Crude Oil slips 0.64%; Commodity futures turnover at ₹347,829.81 crore and options at ₹2,235,426.91 crore; Gold–silver futures trade at ₹269,687.33 crore; Bulldex closes at 30,107
On the country’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, MCX recorded a turnover of ₹2,583,324.39 crore in commodity futures, options, index futures, and options during the week of November 7 to 13. Trading in commodity futures amounted to ₹347,829.81 crore, while notional turnover in commodity options stood at ₹2,235,426.91 crore. The November futures of the bullion index, Bulldex, closed at 30,107 points. The total weekly premium turnover in commodity options was ₹34,225.05 crore.
During the week under review, trading in precious metals—gold and silver futures—amounted to ₹269,687.33 crore. MCX Gold December futures opened at ₹1,20,839, touched an intra-day high of ₹1,27,941 and a low of ₹1,20,551 during the week, and closed at ₹1,26,751 per 10 grams—a gain of ₹6,138 or 5.09% compared to the previous close of ₹1,20,613. Gold-Guinea November futures closed at ₹1,02,347 per 8 grams, up ₹4,754 or 4.87%. Gold-Petal November futures closed at ₹12,800 per gram, up ₹589 or 4.82%. Gold-Mini December futures opened at ₹1,20,751, touched an intra-day high of ₹1,27,824 and a low of ₹1,20,523, and closed at ₹1,26,668 per 10 grams—a gain of ₹6,081 or 5.04%. Gold-Ten November futures opened at ₹1,21,141, touched an intra-day high of ₹1,27,996 and a low of ₹1,20,850, and closed at ₹1,26,902 per 10 grams—a gain of ₹6,044 or 5% compared to the previous close of ₹1,20,858.
In silver futures, Silver December futures opened at ₹1,47,309, touched an intra-day high of ₹1,65,818 and a low of ₹1,47,115, and closed at ₹1,62,470 per kg—a gain of ₹15,401 or 10.47% compared to the previous close of ₹1,47,069. Silver-Mini November futures closed at ₹1,63,698 per kg, up ₹15,113 or 10.17%. Silver-Micro November futures closed at ₹1,63,700 per kg, up ₹15,091 or 10.15%.
In the metals category, trades worth ₹13,616.86 crore were recorded. Copper November futures closed at ₹1,014.05 per kg, up ₹14 or 1.4%. Zinc November futures closed at ₹305.7 per kg, up ₹5.05 or 1.68%. Aluminum November futures closed at ₹273 per kg, up ₹1.25 or 0.46%. Lead November futures closed at ₹184.1 per kg, up ₹0.40 or 0.22%.
In the energy segment, traders executed deals worth ₹64,505.45 crore. MCX Electricity November futures opened at ₹3,237 per MWh, touched an intra-day high of ₹3,289 and a low of ₹2,951, and closed at ₹3,000—a decline of ₹239. Crude Oil December futures opened at ₹5,310, touched an intra-day high of ₹5,436 and a low of ₹5,187, and closed at ₹5,244 per barrel—a decline of ₹34 or 0.64%. Crude Oil-Mini December futures closed at ₹5,242 per barrel, down ₹38 or 0.72%. Natural Gas November futures opened at ₹384.5, touched an intra-day high of ₹416.3 and a low of ₹378.7, and closed at ₹413.8 per MMBTU—a gain of ₹32.9 or 8.64% compared to the previous close of ₹380.9. Natural Gas-Mini November futures closed at ₹413.8 per MMBTU, up ₹33.1 or 8.69%.
In agricultural commodities, Mentha Oil November futures opened at ₹929 and closed at ₹912.7 per kg—a decline of ₹19.1 or 2.05%. Cotton November futures closed at ₹25,120 per bale, down ₹820. Cardamom November futures opened at ₹2,670 per kg and closed at ₹2,536, down ₹153.
From a trading volume perspective on MCX during the week, various gold contracts recorded trades worth ₹1,45,996.79 crore, and silver contracts recorded ₹1,23,690.55 crore. Copper futures accounted for ₹10,108.34 crore, aluminum and aluminum-mini ₹928.94 crore, lead and lead-mini ₹208.83 crore, and zinc and zinc-mini ₹2,366.24 crore.
In addition, crude oil and crude oil-mini futures recorded trades worth ₹9,345.05 crore. Natural gas and natural gas-mini futures recorded ₹55,073.68 crore. Mentha oil futures saw trades worth ₹13.20 crore, and cotton candy futures recorded ₹1.78 crore.
At the end of the week, open interest in gold futures stood at 11,821 lots; gold-mini at 38,382 lots; gold-guinea at 8,423 lots; gold-petal at 1,24,075 lots; and gold-ten at 11,178 lots. Silver futures had 13,488 lots, silver-mini 18,141 lots, and silver-micro 36,775 lots. Crude oil futures had 11,048 lots, and natural gas futures had 22,823 lots.
In index futures, Bulldex November futures opened at 28,472 points, touched an intra-day high of 30,542 and a low of 28,391, and closed at 30,107 points—up 1,667 points for the week.
