The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) joined the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign 2025 with a packed schedule of activities from 21st to 23rd September. The three-day programme carried the theme “Swachhotsav” and focused on health, cleanliness, and sustainability.
On 21st September, ICAR organised Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs. These health camps offered preventive check-ups for sanitation workers and linked them to welfare schemes. The move showed ICAR’s commitment to protecting the well-being of these frontline heroes.
The next day, 22nd September, staff, students, and community members formed a symbolic human chain. The act reflected shared responsibility towards cleanliness. The day also carried strong messages on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, encouraging people to adopt sustainable waste practices.
The campaign closed on 23rd September with the Clean Green Utsav. This included zero-waste celebrations and large cleaning drives in rural and urban areas. The activities stressed the importance of eco-friendly living and active community involvement.
ICAR ran these efforts across 113 research institutes, 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and partner establishments nationwide. Thousands of farmers, students, and locals took part. Through this Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, ICAR reinforced its role in the Swachh Bharat Mission and inspired a long-term culture of cleanliness, health, and environmental care across India.
