India has rejected China’s latest move to rename 30 locations in Arunachal Pradesh. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called it a “senseless” attempt that holds no ground.
China, through its Ministry of Civil Affairs, issued a list of standardised names for locations inside Arunachal. This is the fourth such list since 2017.
India, however, remains unfazed. The official response was blunt: changing names doesn’t change facts.
‘Was, Is, And Will Be’ – India’s Firm Line
The MEA spokesperson said Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.
India reminded China that the region is governed under the Indian Constitution. People there elect their own leaders, follow Indian laws, and live under the Indian flag.
New Delhi made it clear: “Assigning invented names will not alter the reality on the ground.”
China Calls It Zangnan. India Calls It Nonsense.
China refers to Arunachal Pradesh as Zangnan, or South Tibet. But India said this act of renaming locations has no bearing on reality.
Officials from New Delhi stressed that assigning invented names does not alter the facts on the ground. India continues to strongly reject such unilateral moves.
