The 3rd edition of Joint Special Forces Exercise CYCLONE between India and Egypt commenced at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan. The exercise is scheduled from 10th to 23rd February 2025 and is conducted annually, alternating between the two nations. The previous edition took place in Egypt in January 2024.

The Indian contingent consists of 25 personnel from two Special Forces Battalions, while the Egyptian contingent, also comprising 25 personnel, includes members from the Special Forces Group and Task Force of the Egyptian Special Forces.
Exercise CYCLONE aims to strengthen military cooperation through enhanced interoperability, joint planning, and exchange of special operations tactics. The drills will focus on advanced special forces skills, high-intensity physical training, and joint tactical manoeuvres.

Key aspects of the exercise include counter-terrorism operations in desert and semi-desert terrain, along with the practice of various tactics, techniques, and procedures relevant to modern operational scenarios. The exercise will conclude with a 48-hour validation exercise to assess and reinforce joint operational capabilities.
Additionally, an exhibition of indigenous military equipment and an overview of India’s defence manufacturing industry will be presented to the Egyptian side. Exercise CYCLONE serves as a platform for both forces to share best practices and refine their operational effectiveness in special forces missions.
