The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has unveiled plans to build India’s largest cricket stadium in Amaravati, with the goal of placing the city on the global sporting map. The proposed stadium, which will span 60 acres within the Sports City area, will accommodate 1.25 lakh spectators. This major development was reported by Gulte.com, which shared insightful details about the ambitious project.
According to Gulte.com’s coverage, Kesineni Sivanath, President of the ACA and Member of Parliament for Vijayawada, has announced that the association has requested the state government to identify an appropriate location for the construction of the stadium. The project will be part of a sprawling 200-acre sports complex designed to elevate the region’s sporting profile. Funding for the stadium will come from a combination of support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and local sources.
The new stadium is expected to play a key role in hosting the 2029 National Games, cementing Amaravati’s place as a leading sporting hub in the country. In addition to the stadium, the ACA has revealed plans to establish three cricket academies across Andhra Pradesh in North Coastal AP, Vijayawada, and Rayalaseema. These academies, which will be guided by former Indian cricketers Mithali Raj and Robin Singh, aim to foster local cricket talent and provide world-class training facilities for budding players.
Moreover, the ACA has outlined plans to upgrade the Vizag Stadium to ensure it is fit to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in the future, offering local players further exposure to top-tier cricket.
This monumental project reflects Andhra Pradesh’s growing commitment to strengthening its sports infrastructure and enhancing the development of cricket at the grassroots level, ultimately contributing to the future of the sport in the region and beyond.
