The award winning film Line of Control celebrated its Asia premiere at the 26th Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, drawing a full house and the presence of several leading voices from the Indian film industry. After travelling to twelve major international film festivals, the screening marked a significant homecoming moment for the film.
An adaptation of the critically acclaimed novel The Collaborator, the film has already earned global recognition. It has been showcased at prominent festivals including the San Diego International Film Festival, the UK Asian Film Festival, the Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan, the JoBurg Film Festival, the Anchorage International Film Festival, the Antakya Film Festival in Turkey, and Dances With Films, among others. Its Asia premiere at Kala Ghoda added a meaningful chapter to its international journey.
Set in Kashmir during the insurgency of 1993, Line of Control follows the story of a teenage boy whose best friend vanishes amid rising violence. Driven by loyalty and fear, the young protagonist embarks on a search that forces him to confront moral dilemmas and difficult choices. While the narrative is rooted in a specific political landscape, its themes of friendship, loss, survival and identity speak to audiences across cultures.
The screening was attended by CSR leader Brig Rajiv Williams (Retd), who served as Chief Guest. It was presented by Supreet Singh, Founder of the non profit Reddot Foundation. Among the distinguished guests were General Sanjay Soi (Retd), Neeraj Jain of Vinners, Sunil Alagh and Maya Alagh, and Sanjeev Agarwal of SkinInTheGame Brand Solutions, along with prominent members of the film and cultural community.
Acclaimed filmmakers including Prakash Jha, Vivek Sharma, Mayur Puri and National Award winner Rajan Khosa were also present, reflecting strong industry support for the project.
Written and directed by Travis Hodgkins, the film features cinematography by Johan Holmquist and an evocative score by Wayne Sharpe, known for his work on Raajneeti and Basmati Blues.
Line of Control is produced by an all women team comprising Rashaana Shah and Namrata Sharma of Mulberry Films, and Cristy Coors Beasley of Fabled Frames. Executive producers include Chaitra Vedullapalli and Swetha Pakala, representing a cross continental collaboration of women leaders in cinema and technology.
The Asia premiere at Kala Ghoda underscored the film’s growing global impact and reaffirmed its place as a deeply personal yet universally resonant story.
