The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence, continued the 33rd Convocation celebrations at Manipal on Saturday. The event reflected MAHE’s commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates, advancing innovation, and upholding academic excellence. Senior leadership including Trustee Mrs Vasanti R Pai and Pro Chancellor Dr H S Ballal graced the occasion.
On the second day of the ceremony, 1,651 students received their degrees, including 48 PhD scholars, while three students were honoured with the prestigious Dr TMA Pai Gold Medal.
Reinvent yourself in the AI era
Chief guest Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President, Asia Pacific Strategic Initiatives at Google Cloud and proud MAHE alumnus, delivered the convocation address. He urged graduates to continuously reinvent themselves in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence.
He noted that today’s graduates stand at a historic moment where AI is reshaping every industry. The impact of emerging technologies, he said, is not limited to technical or management domains but also touches ethics, society, and humanity. He encouraged students to adopt responsible innovation, asking not only “Can we build this?” but also “Should we?”, and to use their skills for societal benefit.
Speaking about his own journey from Manipal to leading major technology initiatives across Asia, he said MAHE equips students with the knowledge and flexibility required to thrive in an AI-driven world. Drawing from three decades of experience in technology and leadership, he reminded students that a successful career is built on adaptability and the courage to evolve.
MAHE’s future-ready vision
This message of reinvention aligns with the vision of Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, VSM (Retd), Vice Chancellor of MAHE. He outlined a bold, innovation-led roadmap for the university, emphasising research, entrepreneurship, inclusivity, and community development. He highlighted MAHE’s focus on sustainability, technology incubation, and its commitment to shaping a greener and better future.
Celebrating excellence
The ceremony also recognised exceptional student achievements. The Dr TMA Pai Gold Medal 2025 was awarded to:
• Rashi Goel, MIT Manipal (B Tech Computer Science and Engineering)
• Neha Sreekumar, MCON Manipal (BSc Nursing)
• Mandira, MIC Manipal (BA Media and Communication)
The medal recipients expressed gratitude for the guidance, opportunities, and supportive environment MAHE provided. They described their journeys as a blend of hard work, doubt, resilience, and determination, with the award symbolising their dedication and growth.
A proud day for MAHE
The second day of MAHE’s 33rd Convocation celebrated the accomplishments of its graduates while reinforcing the institution’s mission to shape ethical, versatile, and innovative leaders for an AI-powered future.
