Mumbai has unveiled its first elevated nature trail at Malabar Hill, offering residents and tourists a unique experience amidst the city’s greenery. Inspired by Singapore’s renowned Tree Top Walk, this 485-meter-long walkway provides panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and Girgaon Chowpatty, all from a height that brings visitors closer to the forest canopy.
The trail connects Kamala Nehru Park to Doongerwadi Woods, allowing nature enthusiasts to traverse through lush foliage while enjoying features like a glass-bottom deck and designated bird-watching zones. Developed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the project aims to promote eco-tourism and offer a serene escape within the bustling metropolis.
To manage footfall and ensure a pleasant experience, entry is capped at 200 visitors per hour. An online booking system has been introduced, allowing guests to reserve one-hour slots in advance. The trail operates daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Indian citizens are charged an entry fee of ₹25, while foreign nationals pay ₹100.
Since its opening, the walkway has garnered significant attention, recording over 3,400 visitors within the first two days and generating approximately ₹87,225 in ticket revenue. This enthusiastic response underscores Mumbai’s growing interest in sustainable and immersive nature experiences.
