Mumbai, the financial capital of India, witnessed a momentous spiritual event as 64 mumukshus prepared to renounce worldly life in a grand Diksha Mahotsav organized by Adhyatma Parivar at Chikuwadi, Borivali (West). The five-day Sanyamrang Mahotsav culminated in a divine celebration, enveloping the city in the saffron hues of renunciation and devotion.
The event was held under the sacred guidance of Param Pujya Gachchhadhipati Som Sundar Suri Maharaj Saheb of the Shantichandra Suri Samuday, with blessings from Param Pujya Yogtilak Suri Maharaj Saheb, revered as the Adhyatma Samrat. The occasion was further sanctified by the presence of several Acharyas, senior monks from the Ramchandra Suri Samuday, and nearly 800 Shraman and Shramani Bhagwants, making it a spiritually uplifting experience for all attendees.
A key highlight of the festival was the Rath Yatra and Varshidan, where the mumukshus symbolically donated assets worth crores, expressing their complete detachment from material possessions. Representing all age groups from young children to highly educated youth and elderly devotees the 64 diksharthis exemplified the profound message of renunciation and spiritual awakening. The event also drew dignitaries, including Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harshbhai Sanghavi and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who paid their respects to the aspiring monks and nuns.
Tomorrow, the mumukshus will formally enter the Diksha Mandap, don the Rajoharan, and take their vows of renunciation amid devotional chants and rituals. The Mandap, designed to resemble a celestial aircraft, added a unique and artistic dimension to the ceremony, drawing admiration from devotees and visitors.
During the fourth night, the emotionally charged Antim Viday (final farewell) ceremony allowed the mumukshus to address devotees across three halls, sharing their reflections on detachment and the spiritual path. The Adhyatma Parivar members Hitesh Bhai Mota, Dinesh Bhai, Ashish Bhai Golchha, Manish Kheralu, Rupesh Bhai Fofani, and Alpesh Bhai Burad Sanchor emphasized that this gathering is more than a festival; it is a living testament to the vitality and spiritual strength of Jain Shasan.
The historic occasion of 64 souls taking Diksha together in Mumbai has left an indelible mark on the city’s spiritual landscape, inspiring devotees and the broader community alike with the timeless values of renunciation, devotion, and self-realisation.
