The much-awaited 29th Mumbai Flower Show, organised by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), is in full bloom at Veermata Jijamata Udyan, Byculla, drawing nature lovers, families and photography enthusiasts in large numbers. Spread over three days, the annual exhibition offers visitors a vibrant mix of floral artistry, creativity and environmental awareness, turning one of Mumbai’s oldest gardens into a colourful visual spectacle.
Adding star power to the event, veteran actor Ranjeet, popular actress Varsha Usgaonkar, and film and television actress along with social media influencer Ekta Jain visited the exhibition and spent time exploring the themed floral installations. Several other celebrities from the entertainment industry were also present, making the occasion even more special for visitors. Jeetendra Pardeshi, Superintendent of Gardens at BMC, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their presence. He also urged citizens to visit the exhibition with their families and children before it concludes on Sunday.
For nearly three decades, the Mumbai Flower Show has been a regular fixture on the city’s cultural calendar, with each edition centred around a distinct theme. This year’s theme, “Musical”, has captured public imagination. Floral sculptures inspired by musical instruments such as the sitar, violin, tabla and piano have been meticulously crafted using a wide variety of flowers and plants. The exhibition also features a moving floral tribute to the Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar, celebrating her timeless contribution to Indian music through art created entirely with flowers.
One of the highlights of this year’s edition is BMC’s collaboration with Japan, showcasing Japanese Bonsai plants. The display not only introduces visitors to the delicate art of bonsai cultivation but also reflects growing international cooperation in the field of horticulture. With Green Expo 2027 scheduled to be held in Japan, BMC officials are expected to visit the country to exchange knowledge and share India’s traditional and modern practices of plant care and urban gardening.
Actor Ranjeet praised the BMC team for consistently organising the flower show over the years. Sharing his personal connection with nature, he said he grows vegetables, flowers and plants on his home terrace and was deeply impressed by this year’s musical theme. Ekta Jain also lauded the civic body’s sustained efforts and encouraged citizens to visit the exhibition, calling it a fragrant and visually enriching experience.
With its blend of art, nature and global collaboration, the 29th Mumbai Flower Show once again reinforces Mumbai’s enduring bond with green spaces and cultural expression.
