NAREDCO Maharashtra has announced a strategic partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) EDGE team to drive sustainable real estate development across India. This collaboration aims to bring global financing opportunities and promote greener, environmentally conscious practices within the real estate sector.
The partnership was formalised with the signing of a Letter of Collaboration. Key signatories included Mrs. Diep Nguyen van-Houtte, Global Senior Manager, IFC Climate Business Department; Mr. Autif Sayyed, Green Building Lead for South Asia at IFC; and Mr. Ridham Gada, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra NextGen.
Under this collaboration, the IFC EDGE team will provide technical support on green building standards. They will conduct training sessions, offer free EDGE expert training, and facilitate networking opportunities for developers with EDGE-certified projects at key events.
NAREDCO Maharashtra will support these initiatives by organising knowledge sessions across its chapters. The organisation will also advocate for the integration of EDGE standards into local and state incentive programmes and promote these practices at NAREDCO-hosted events.
This partnership is set to empower NAREDCO’s members with the tools needed to adopt sustainable real estate practices. The collaboration aims to establish Maharashtra as a leader in green building development in India.
Mr. Prashant Sharma, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership with the IFC EDGE team marks a pivotal moment for the real estate sector in Maharashtra. IFC’s unparalleled expertise in sustainable development and their global experience in financing green projects resonate with our vision to create a future where sustainable buildings are the norm. Collectively, we will enable stakeholders to spearhead meaningful, sustainable change and create environmentally-friendly, intelligent cities of the future.”
Mr. Ridham Gada, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra NextGen, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “As the next generation of leaders in real estate, we are deeply committed to shaping a sustainable future. Our collaboration with IFC is a leap forward in creating a culture of sustainability among young professionals and the industry at large. This partnership will not only reshape the way we build today, but it will lay the foundation for how we live tomorrow, ensuring that the projects we undertake today continue to benefit future generations.”
Together, NAREDCO Maharashtra and IFC aim to develop smarter, more sustainable cities, addressing climate change, reducing carbon footprints, and ensuring a greener, resilient future for Maharashtra’s citizens. This collaboration will promote better construction practices and encourage environmentally responsible urbanisation across India.
