India’s financial capital today hosted a curtain raiser for the highly anticipated 17th NAREDCO National Convention, scheduled to take place in New Delhi on August 29–30, 2025. Held under the theme “Resilient India: Inclusive, Sustainable, and Future-Ready,” the convention will bring together key stakeholders including policymakers, industry leaders, and technology experts to drive discussions around India’s evolving urban and housing landscape.
Mumbai, a city at the heart of India’s urban challenges and innovation, continues to serve as a testing ground for large-scale redevelopment, infrastructure upgrades, and affordable housing initiatives under PMAY. Its transformation journey presents replicable models for cities across India.
Speaking at the event, Shri Prashant Sharma, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, noted, “Mumbai is more than a city—it’s a megapolis that embodies the challenges and opportunities of urban India. This curtain raiser initiates critical dialogue on streamlining approvals, strengthening rental housing frameworks, and mobilizing capital for faster and more resilient redevelopment.”
The convention will spotlight crucial areas such as RERA evolution, ease of doing business, adoption of modern construction technologies, and expansion of rental housing, all of which align closely with the ongoing transformation in Mumbai and beyond.
Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of NAREDCO, emphasized the sector’s role in India’s economic future: “Urban planning has become central to national development. Given the real estate sector’s carbon footprint, a shift to smart, green, and efficient models is no longer optional. Our cities must lead this transition—starting with Delhi.”
Shri G Hari Babu, President of NAREDCO, described the convention as a catalyst for change. “We stand at a convergence point where growth, regulation, and innovation must align. This isn’t just a platform for discussion, but for actionable outcomes that address policy delays, rental inefficiencies, and high construction input costs,” he stated.
Hon’ble Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, will grace the event as Chief Guest—signifying strong central support for the real estate sector. The convention’s official logo was launched on 1st August 2025 by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta at a curtain raiser held in the capital.
Key themes for the two-day event include:
- RERA reform: Enhancing compliance, grievance redressal, and trust.
- Affordable & rental housing: Focusing on credit-linked subsidies and PPP models.
- Capital and finance: Exploring Indian REITs, sovereign support mechanisms, and risk-mitigation tools for private investors.
- Green construction: Promoting BIM, prefabrication, and sustainable materials.
- Redevelopment of CBDs: Integrating heritage with livability and functionality.
- Urban mobility & livability: Sessions on TOD, multimodal transport, and global urban benchmarks.
- Ease of doing business: Addressing single-window systems, digital land records, and regulatory simplification.
With participation from over 800 delegates, including government officials, real estate developers, financial institutions, and global investors, the 17th NAREDCO National Convention is expected to be a landmark event. It aims to drive forward-thinking reforms, boost innovation, and shape a more inclusive and resilient real estate sector in India.
