Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd., one of India’s leading building materials companies, has launched Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield, a high-performance Ready-Mix Concrete designed to significantly enhance structural durability and extend the service life of buildings.
The newly launched product is part of Nuvoco’s flagship Concreto portfolio and has been engineered to protect structures from India’s increasingly aggressive environmental conditions, including high chloride content in borewell water and coastal air, accelerated carbonation due to urban pollution, and sulphate-rich soil and groundwater found across several regions.
Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield offers a three-layer durability solution aimed at long-term structural protection. Its Chloride Shield reduces chloride penetration by up to 50 percent compared to standard concrete, helping safeguard reinforcement steel from corrosion. The Carbonation Shield slows carbonation rates, achieving nearly 50 percent lower carbonation depth and maintaining steel passivity. The Sulphate Shield enhances resistance against sulphate-induced expansion and cracking in foundations and soil-contact structures, delivering up to 50 percent lower sulphate expansion.
According to the company, the combined Tri Shield mechanism works synergistically to extend the service life of structures by nearly 50 percent over conventional concrete. The product’s performance has been validated through testing at Nuvoco’s Construction Development and Innovation Centre (CDIC), which is NABL-accredited and aligned with IS 456, IS 516, ASTM C1202 and ASTM C1012 standards, along with advanced durability simulations.
