Pahalgam Attack Fallout
A fresh controversy has erupted after Pakistan’s women’s cricketer Gull Feroza made a strong remark on playing in India.
Speaking in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, where one tourist died and four were injured, she stated that the team is “not interested in playing in India.”
Her comment came amid rising Indo-Pak tensions and a charged online atmosphere.
Statement Triggers Outrage
The remark went viral after Feroza spoke during a team interaction. Social media platforms lit up. Some users called it political posturing, while others linked it to the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
Feroza said, “We are not interested in playing in India. We only want to play where there’s safety and respect.” She also denied reports that the Pakistan team had initially refused to travel to India.
Clarification Fails to Calm Storm
Later, Feroza clarified that her words were twisted. According to her, the original intention was to stress player safety, not target India.
Still, the damage had been done. The backlash grew, especially from Indian fans.
BCCI Silent, ICC Yet to React
The BCCI has not responded. The ICC has also maintained silence over the matter. However, concerns remain whether this row will affect the Women’s World Cup, scheduled later this year.
India is set to host the event, and Pakistan’s participation may now be in doubt.
