The much-anticipated action film King has been temporarily paused as Shah Rukh Khan suffered a muscular injury during a high-intensity stunt sequence in Mumbai. The actor, who was filming at the Golden Tobacco studio, sustained the injury while performing action scenes and was quickly flown to the United States for medical treatment.
According to sources close to the production, the injury is not severe but was enough to warrant a complete month of rest. Over the years, Shah Rukh has accumulated various injuries due to his stunt work, and this latest setback appears to be a result of ongoing physical stress. “It’s a muscular injury. He’s been advised to rest for at least a month,” said a source. His medical team chose the US for treatment to ensure the best possible care.
The injury disrupted the film’s shooting schedule, which had locked locations at Film City, Golden Tobacco studio, and YRF Studios for July and August. All bookings have now been cancelled, with the next filming schedule expected to begin post-September.
Shah Rukh’s team has not officially commented yet, but his manager Pooja Dadlani’s recent Instagram story hints at her presence in New York. The injury reportedly happened while filming an intense action block for King, directed by Siddharth Anand.
