His contributions included hearings related to Article 370, the sedition law, the Pegasus spyware matter, and issues involving gender justice and electoral transparency. His wide experience and strong understanding of law made him one of the senior-most judges of the court.
On 24 November 2025, he was sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India.
