Tata Motors has unveiled two new Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect) facilities in Lucknow and Raipur, reinforcing its push toward sustainable mobility and a circular economy. The facilities were inaugurated virtually on 18 June 2025 by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways.
These advanced Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) aim to dismantle end-of-life vehicles safely and scientifically. Both passenger and commercial vehicles — including two- and three-wheelers from all brands — can be processed at these centres.
The Raipur facility, run by Raipur Green Energy Pvt Ltd, can handle up to 25,000 vehicles annually. The Lucknow centre, operated by Moto Scrapland Pvt Ltd, has a capacity of 15,000 vehicles per year.
These facilities are part of India’s National Vehicle Scrappage Policy, which promotes cleaner, more fuel-efficient vehicles through structured incentives for scrapping old ones.
Tata Motors now operates 10 RVSFs nationwide. Other locations include Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, and Kolkata.
Each Re.Wi.Re centre is fully digital, paperless, and equipped with cutting-edge systems. Commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers are dismantled at cell-type stations, while passenger vehicles go through line-type processes. Components like tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, and gases are removed and disposed of with strict environmental compliance.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, said the company can now dismantle over 1.75 lakh vehicles annually through its growing Re.Wi.Re network. He highlighted the importance of partnerships with private operators and government agencies in scaling these operations.
The Re.Wi.Re initiative is a major leap for India’s automotive sector, setting a global benchmark for responsible vehicle scrappage and recycling.
