Mumbai (Anil Bedag): The first poster of the upcoming Hindi film The Narmada Story has been unveiled by director Zaigham Imam on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The reveal has sparked curiosity among film enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into a powerful social crime drama rooted in the realities of rural India.
Set in the Narmada river belt of Madhya Pradesh, the film draws inspiration from true events and highlights the courage, resilience, and determination of women who stand up against injustice. Through a gripping narrative, the story explores how ordinary individuals can challenge powerful forces when driven by the desire to protect their families and communities.
The film features a strong ensemble cast led by Ashwini Kalsekar, Simala Prasad, and Anjali Patil. Veteran performers including Zarina Wahab, Raghubir Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharad Singh, and Ishtiyak Khan also play important roles, bringing depth and authenticity to the story.
At the heart of the film lies the story of a tribal mother, Agni Dhurve, who is determined to protect her daughter at any cost. Her struggle takes a dramatic turn when she receives support from a determined police officer, Narmada Raikwar. The character is portrayed by Simala Prasad, who in real life is also an IPS officer, adding a unique layer of realism to the narrative. Together, the two women confront powerful criminals who believe they are beyond the reach of the law.
Speaking about the project, director Zaigham Imam said the film reflects the spirit of courage found in many untold stories from rural India. He noted that releasing the first poster on International Women’s Day made the moment especially meaningful. According to him, the film highlights the strength of a mother’s determination and the integrity of a woman police officer. He believes that when women rise against injustice, meaningful social change becomes possible.
Co-producer Piyush Singh described the film as more than just a crime drama. He said The Narmada Story is a tribute to women who challenge injustice despite facing difficult circumstances. With accomplished actors like Anjali Patil, Zarina Wahab, and Raghubir Yadav, he added, the film gains both emotional depth and powerful performances.
Produced by AB Infossoft Creation with Golden Ratio Films as co-producers, The Narmada Story is expected to release in theatres this summer. Inspired by real-life events and themes of women’s empowerment, the film promises an engaging cinematic experience along with a socially relevant message.
