Fly Jinnah has received approval from Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation Authority to operate direct flights between Karachi and Dhaka, marking the resumption of air travel between the two cities after nearly a decade. This will be the first direct flight service between Pakistan and Bangladesh since PIA suspended its operations on this route in 2016.
The airline must now appoint a General Sales Agent in Bangladesh before finalising schedules and frequencies. The agreement aligns with recent efforts to enhance regional connectivity, following the launch of a direct shipping route between Chittagong and Karachi.
Bangladesh’s approval comes as both countries seek to strengthen economic and trade relations. Direct flights are expected to facilitate business travel, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Industry experts believe this move will provide passengers with a more affordable and convenient travel option between the two nations.
Fly Jinnah, a budget airline operating under Pakistan’s Air Arabia Group, currently serves domestic routes and some international destinations. The addition of Karachi-Dhaka flights is seen as a significant step in expanding its regional network.
