HOSMAT Hospitals, a leader in orthopaedics, trauma, and sports medicine for over three decades, has entered into a three-year strategic medical partnership with South United Football Club (SUFC) to provide end-to-end sports medical services and on-site clinical care for players and staff.
As part of the collaboration, HOSMAT has inaugurated a dedicated On-Site Sports Medical Centre at SUFC, creating a hospital-grade medical ecosystem within the Club’s training and competition environment. This facility ensures that athletes receive structured medical oversight, rapid emergency response, and continuous care throughout training sessions and tournaments.
The partnership introduces a comprehensive sports medicine framework, including preventive health screenings, sideline medical readiness, and referral pathways for advanced orthopaedic, trauma, and rehabilitation care. This integrated approach aligns with global best practices in professional sports, providing proactive and reactive medical support.
Studies in international sports medicine indicate that regular medical screening and structured intervention can reduce preventable injuries by up to 50% while improving return-to-play timelines. On-site medical teams also significantly reduce critical response times during emergencies, underlining the importance of embedding clinical care directly within the sporting environment.
HOSMAT’s services under the agreement include annual comprehensive health checks, sports-specific screenings, dedicated ambulance services with trained medical staff during matches, full clinical and nursing support at the SUFC centre, essential medical supplies, and discounted inpatient and outpatient treatment at HOSMAT for players and personnel.
Speaking on the partnership, Anisha Chandy Eckardt, Managing Director of HOSMAT Hospitals, said, “Modern sports require structured medical leadership, not just emergency response but prevention, monitoring, and rehabilitation. Bringing hospital-grade medical systems directly to SUFC ensures faster intervention, improved outcomes, and athlete longevity. This partnership is also aligned with national priorities for decentralized healthcare and emergency readiness.”
SUFC CEO Mohamed Rafik highlighted the strategic benefits of the collaboration: “Player safety and medical preparedness are critical to performance. Our on-site medical centre ensures immediate care for our first team, academy participants, grassroots programs, and community initiatives. With dedicated physiotherapists and trained nurses, we are setting a new benchmark in athlete care in India.”
SUFC, founded in 2012, has a proven track record in developing talent from grassroots to elite levels, with academies in Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad, and participation in prestigious competitions like the Durand Cup and Santosh Trophy. This partnership with HOSMAT strengthens its commitment to nurturing football talent with world-class medical support.
With this collaboration, SUFC becomes one of the few football clubs in India to offer a fully integrated sports medicine ecosystem, combining prevention, emergency care, and rehabilitation to support the entire footballing journey.
