Mondelez India has strengthened primary healthcare access for over 1.45 million people by supporting 200 Health & Wellness Centres (HWCs) across four states—Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. This initiative, part of the company’s decade-long CSR program, Shubh Aarambh, has significantly improved medical services in 800+ villages.
Key Achievements
The program, aligned with the Indian government’s Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) initiative, has yielded remarkable results:
- 58% rise in patient footfall across HWCs.
- 11,618 high-risk pregnancies identified and referred for specialised care.
- 7,800+ children under five referred for advanced medical treatment.
- 160 Jan Arogya Samitis strengthened for community-driven healthcare monitoring.
Improved Healthcare Services
The initiative has enhanced critical healthcare services, ensuring:
- 96% of Sub-Health Centres provide antenatal care.
- 84% of HWCs offer postnatal care.
- 97% ensure routine immunisation.
- 87% cater to adolescent health needs.
- 12% increase in pregnancy registrations.
Recognised Healthcare Standards
Quality improvements have led to:
- 12 HWCs earning Kayakalp accreditation for excellence in hygiene and infection control.
- 10 HWCs achieving NQAS certification for meeting national healthcare quality standards.
- 1,028 healthcare workers trained in maternal, newborn, and child healthcare services.
Affordable & Inclusive Healthcare
By making medical services more accessible, the program has reduced out-of-pocket expenses by 21%. Additionally, over 800 healthcare workers have received training in gender-inclusive service delivery. Other initiatives include:
- Iron Sucrose IV administration for anaemia treatment.
- Targeted care for high-risk pregnancies.
- Custom health communication materials to boost awareness.
Future Expansion
Mondelez India hosted a Knowledge Exchange Workshop to share insights and best practices for scaling primary healthcare nationwide. The discussion reinforced the importance of HWCs in improving healthcare access and equity.
