Veteran actor Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s mother, Nirmal Kapoor, passed away on May 2, 2025, in Mumbai. She was 90. She breathed her last at 5:25 PM at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where she had been under treatment for age-related ailments.
Nirmal Kapoor was the wife of renowned film producer Surinder Kapoor. She was the backbone of the Kapoor family, which includes celebrated names like Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor. Her passing marks the end of an era for the Kapoor clan.
Sources close to the family confirmed that she had been unwell for a long time and receiving medical care. A video circulating online showed Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor inside the ambulance with her mortal remains—an emotional moment captured as they brought her back home.
Nirmal Kapoor’s funeral will take place at the Pawan Hans Crematorium today at 11:30 am. Family members including Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, and Anshula Kapoor are expected to attend.
