Google is reportedly working on a new feature for Pixel devices called ‘Pixel Besties,’ aimed at centralising communications from selected contacts across multiple messaging platforms. This feature is expected to consolidate messages, calls, and group chats from apps such as Google Messages and WhatsApp into a single, streamlined interface.

Pixel Besties is designed to make it easier for users to keep track of conversations with their most important contacts. Rather than toggling between different messaging apps, the feature will bring all interactions into one centralised hub. Reports suggest that it will include a home screen widget, allowing quick access to messages and calls from designated ‘Besties.’
WhatsApp and Other integrations: An APK teardown of the latest WhatsApp beta (version 2.25.3.22) has revealed code referencing integration with Pixel Besties. This indicates that WhatsApp may be among the first third party applications to support this feature. The integration appears to be facilitated through a content provider API, enabling WhatsApp to share messages with the Pixel Besties app.
While Google Messages is expected to be a default inclusion, it remains unclear whether other messaging platforms, such as Telegram or Signal, will also integrate with Pixel Besties in the future. Google has yet to confirm the extent of third party support.

Expected release and features: The Pixel Besties feature is likely to be introduced in an upcoming Pixel Feature Drop, possibly alongside the next Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) update. Some reports suggest that it may also be branded as ‘Pixel Relationship.’ Although Google has not provided an official timeline, leaks indicate that the app is in an advanced stage of development.
If fully implemented, Pixel Besties could enhance user experience by reducing the need to switch between multiple apps for communication. By consolidating interactions, Google aims to make digital conversations more seamless for Pixel users.
