14 February 2019 is a date etched in the memory of every Indian as a day of sorrow and anger. On this fateful day, India witnessed one of the deadliest terror attacks in its history when a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. This cowardly act of terrorism took the lives of 40 brave soldiers and left the nation in shock and mourning.
The Attack: A Dark Day for India
The Pulwama attack occurred on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, where a convoy of 78 vehicles carrying over 2,500 CRPF personnel was moving towards Srinagar. At approximately 3:15 PM, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosive-laden SUV into one of the buses. The explosion was so powerful that it not only reduced the bus to debris but also caused extensive damage to nearby vehicles.
The impact of the blast was devastating, leaving behind a scene of destruction and chaos. The loss of 40 soldiers left their families in unbearable grief and the entire nation in mourning.
