South African Tourism is set to return with its India Roadshow 2025, expanding its presence with 40 exhibitors and six new product offerings. The event, scheduled from 18-20 March, will be held in Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai.
Strengthening India-South Africa Travel Ties
India remains a key market for South African Tourism. The roadshow aims to boost Indian arrivals by offering direct industry engagement and strategic insights. The 21st edition will feature a new market vision, highlighting trends and emerging opportunities.
The event will include nine Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), reinforcing South Africa’s commitment to business inclusivity. More than 15% of exhibitors will showcase fresh travel products, adding new attractions to the country’s tourism offerings.
India recorded 75,541 tourist arrivals to South Africa in 2024, a 79% recovery from pre-COVID levels. South African Tourism now targets a 16% increase in 2025. The 2024 roadshow resulted in 12,000 trade meetings and 160,000 leads, reflecting strong demand.
Easier Travel & Better Connectivity
To streamline travel, South Africa has introduced the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, making visa applications easier for Indian travellers. The Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS) portal will further speed up group visa processing. Talks are also underway for direct flights between the two nations.
Focus on Key Travel Segments
The roadshow will cater to adventure seekers, luxury travellers, family vacationers, and MICE groups. In 2024, visitors over 40 increased, and family travel saw a rise. MICE and business travellers made up 49.6% of Indian arrivals, with MICE alone attracting 20.2%.
As South Africa takes over the G20 Presidency in 2025, it aims to strengthen global tourism ties and promote sustainable travel. With new accessibility measures and expanded trade engagement, South African Tourism is set to deepen its presence in the Indian market.
