The Telangana government has unveiled the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, aiming to provide financial assistance to unemployed youth from SC, ST, BC, and minority communities. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the scheme will allocate ₹6,000 crore to support 5 lakh beneficiaries, each receiving ₹3 lakh to pursue self-employment opportunities.
Application process and timeline
The government will issue a notification on March 15, inviting applications from eligible candidates. The application window will remain open until April 5. Subsequently, authorities will verify applications between April 6 and May 31. Successful applicants will receive sanction letters on June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day.
Implementation and Oversight
Various state corporations will oversee the scheme’s implementation:
- The BC Corporation will assist unemployed youth from Backward Classes (BC) and Economically Backward Classes (EBC).
- The SC Corporation, ST Corporation, and Minorities Development Corporation will support candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and minority communities, respectively.
Funding for SC and ST beneficiaries will come from the respective sub-plan allocations.
Government’s commitment to Youth empowerment
Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka criticised the previous administration for neglecting youth employment and weakening support corporations. He emphasised the current government’s dedication to empowering marginalised communities through such initiatives.
The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme represents a significant investment in Telangana’s youth, offering substantial financial support to foster self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply within the specified timeframe to benefit from this opportunity.
