Cities Coalition for Circularity Launched; Jaipur Declaration Announced
The 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum kicked off in Jaipur. The event brought together leaders from India and the Asia-Pacific region. It aims to promote waste management and sustainability efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a written message for the forum. He highlighted India’s commitment to the Pro Planet People (P-3) approach. He stressed the importance of a circular economy in urban development. He also reaffirmed India’s leadership in global sustainability efforts.

Major Announcements at the Forum
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated the event. He announced key initiatives, including:
- Cities Coalition for Circularity (C-3): A digital platform for cities, experts, and tech providers.
- CITIIS 2.0 Agreements: ₹1,800 crore will be invested in waste management for 18 cities across 14 states.
- Jaipur Declaration (2025-2034): A framework to guide sustainability efforts for the next decade.
He emphasised that a circular economy is both an environmental and economic necessity. He highlighted India’s initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT 2.0, and bio-CNG production.
3R India Pavilion Showcases Innovations
The forum featured the 3R India Pavilion, showcasing sustainable technologies. Over 40 businesses from India and Japan participated. They presented solutions for waste management and recycling.
Rajasthan’s Role in Circular Economy
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma addressed the gathering. He stated that circular economy practices are key to tackling climate change and pollution. He highlighted the state’s Environmental Management Cell, which focuses on waste recycling.
MoU Signed for CITIIS 2.0
A key MoU was signed under CITIIS 2.0. This agreement will drive integrated waste management and climate action. The investment aims to create model cities for sustainable development.
The forum will continue with expert discussions and policy dialogues. The event sets the stage for stronger global cooperation in circular economy initiatives.
