Samsung has unveiled its ‘Galaxy Empowered’ initiative, a community-led programme designed to transform education in India by upskilling 20,000 teachers, principals, and administrators by 2025. The initiative, launched in Bengaluru, aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and focuses on integrating technology into teaching practices to foster innovation, critical thinking, and student engagement.
The programme, introduced in the presence of Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, aims to create future ready classrooms by equipping educators with modern pedagogies and digital tools. Through a combination of blended learning events, hands-on training, and mentorship opportunities, ‘Galaxy Empowered’ seeks to empower teachers to enhance student learning experiences and bridge educational gaps.
One of the standout features of the initiative is its accessibility. The programme is entirely free for both teachers and schools, ensuring no financial barriers to participation. Educators will gain access to workshops, certifications, and a comprehensive library of resources, including gamification strategies, interactive apps, and virtual classroom tools. Additionally, participants will receive exclusive discounts on Samsung devices, extended warranties, and free insurance.
Since its pilot phase in December 2024, over 2,700 teachers have already been certified through live training sessions. The programme has also been successfully implemented in 250 schools in Delhi, with partnerships including Mahattattva Educational Advisory and STTAR.
‘Galaxy Empowered’ is built on three foundational pillars:
1. Technology upskilling: Teachers will participate in flexible online training sessions and physical bootcamps to integrate the latest digital tools into their classrooms.
2. Hands-on training and certification: Educators will receive mentorship, hands-on workshops, and certifications to enhance their skills and curriculum design capabilities.
3. Collaboration and networking: A dynamic community of educators will be created, offering peer to peer networking, access to industry experts, and thought leadership panels.
Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President of Samsung India’s MX Business, emphasised the programme’s alignment with Samsung’s vision of innovating for a better tomorrow. “By investing in teacher development, we empower educators to maximise their classroom impact, supporting the backbone of the education system,” he said.
Abhinav Bindra, the chief guest at the launch, highlighted the importance of technology in education. “Education lies at the heart of societal progress. By empowering teachers with the right tools, Samsung is fostering an ecosystem where technology enhances learning and shapes the future of education,” he stated.
