India-Pakistan border continues to heat up with fresh developments under Operation Sindoor, a high-level counter-terror operation launched by Indian forces.
In Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, heavy troop deployment and search operations are underway after intelligence indicated possible terrorist movement in the region. This follows recent attacks in the Union Territory and a surge in cross-border activity.
According to defence officials, Indian Army personnel have launched area domination patrols and intensive combing operations across suspected infiltration zones in the Rajouri-Poonch belt. Surveillance has been heightened using drones and sniffer dogs.
Amritsar under shock: Explosions and rockets found
In a parallel development, residents of Amritsar were jolted late at night by loud explosions. Panic spread across several areas as police teams rushed to the spot.
The following morning, rocket shells were discovered in an open field, sparking fears of another cross-border threat. Forensic and bomb disposal teams arrived swiftly to neutralise the devices and collect evidence.
Authorities suspect the rockets may have been launched from across the Pakistan border, but a full investigation is ongoing. Security has been tightened across the region, with checkpoints active and drone surveillance intensified along sensitive stretches.
Pakistani intruder shot dead at Punjab border
Adding to the tension, a Pakistani infiltrator was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the Punjab border early this morning. Officials said the intruder ignored warnings and tried to breach the international boundary near the Gurdaspur sector.
The body was recovered and a search of the area is underway. This is the second such infiltration attempt this week, raising fresh security concerns in border villages.
Ongoing regional threat
These events come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the recent exchange of air and artillery strikes along the LoC. The government has advised people in border regions to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
Security agencies believe there could be coordinated attempts to destabilise border states using sleeper cells or armed infiltration.
Operation Sindoor continues to evolve, with Indian forces on full alert across the northern front.
