Goldman Sachs has inaugurated a new office space in Mumbai, strengthening its long-standing presence in India. The opening marks another milestone in the global investment bank’s growth strategy in the country.
The office, located at Ascent Worli, was inaugurated today by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He said the move highlights the state’s role in attracting global financial institutions and showcases the maturity of India’s markets.
Kevin Sneader, President of Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific (ex-Japan), called the expansion “the next chapter” in the firm’s multi-decade journey in India. He emphasised the significant opportunities the bank sees in the market.
Sonjoy Chatterjee, Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs India, described the new office as a symbol of commitment to innovation, collaboration, and employee well-being, while continuing to deliver world-class client service.
The office spans the entire tenth floor and half of the ninth floor of Ascent Worli, offering 50 percent more space than the firm’s previous Mumbai premises. It features advanced conference facilities, Zoom-enabled meeting rooms, information collaboration spaces, adjustable desks, focus rooms, and a multi-purpose area. Employees will also have access to a cafe with on-site catering.
Goldman Sachs has been ranked the top investment bank in India for both announced and completed M&A activity since 2021, according to Dealogic. The firm has also helped issuers raise over $10 billion since 2024 through IPOs and block trades, including the country’s largest deals this year.
The firm’s association with India dates back to the early 1980s. It set up a wholly owned onshore presence in Mumbai in 2006. Since then, it has expanded across investment banking, trading, asset management, and research. Goldman Sachs has also deployed more than $8.5 billion in capital in India since 2006, reinforcing its role as a key player in the country’s economic landscape.
