Rangeela is back on the big screen in India, marking its 30th anniversary with a stunning 4K restoration and upgraded sound. Fans old and new can relive the magic of Ram Gopal Varma’s iconic 90s film.
Originally released on 8 September 1995, Rangeela became a blockbuster thanks to its vibrant storytelling, unforgettable visuals, and A. R. Rahman’s first original Hindi score. Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff’s performances, along with dynamic choreography, made it an enduring classic.
As part of Ultra Media’s Ultra Rewind initiative, the re-release aims to rekindle nostalgia for longtime fans and introduce younger audiences to this timeless love story.
Urmila Matondkar reflected on Instagram, “It was never just a film. It was, and still is, a feeling—woven with joy, hope, dreams, and a grand celebration of life.”
Ram Gopal Varma said, “When Rangeela came out, love stories were melodramatic. Mili symbolised dreams bigger than life. Munna and Kamal were real, flawed, and necessary. The re-release gives a new generation a chance to see why this film was a genre shift, not just a movie.”
Ultra Media CEO Sushilkumar Agrawal added, “Bringing Rangeela back is a celebration for fans and newcomers alike. Its impact on Bollywood is timeless.”Winner of seven Filmfare Awards, including Best Music Director for A. R. Rahman, Rangeela remains a cultural milestone, blending modern sensibilities with unforgettable music and performances.
