On the occasion of National Startup Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the nation’s startup community as India marks ten years since the launch of the Startup India initiative. The milestone comes amid a significant phase of expansion and global recognition for Indian entrepreneurship, with startups playing a pivotal role in economic growth and innovation.
In his message to the nation, the Prime Minister highlighted the exceptional courage, creative spirit and entrepreneurial energy that young Indians have shown over the past decade. He described this day as an opportunity to celebrate the resolve and zeal of innovators who have driven India’s rise in the global startup ecosystem. According to Mr Modi, startups have acted as engines of transformation, addressing complex challenges and generating new opportunities for people across the country.
Reflecting on the government’s support for enterprise development, the Prime Minister said sustained reforms and policy measures have strengthened the startup landscape. These efforts, he noted, have fostered a conducive environment that has enabled startups to explore emerging sectors such as space, defence and advanced technologies domains that were once considered beyond reach for young innovators. He reiterated that India’s startups are central to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and contribute actively to nation-building by solving real-world problems and creating livelihoods.
Mr Modi also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of mentors, incubators, investors, academic institutions and ecosystem partners. He said their guidance, expertise and support have been instrumental in nurturing entrepreneurial talent and enabling startups to scale and succeed. The Prime Minister expressed pride in the achievements of India’s startup community and urged them to continue dreaming big and pushing boundaries to shape the future of the nation.
To encapsulate the spirit of perseverance and achievement, the Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit verse emphasising that difficult tasks are accomplished through effort and determination. He affirmed his belief that the energy and passion of India’s youth will play a defining role in realising the dreams of a developed and prosperous India.
