The Centenary Summit: Shatabdi Conference, recently hosted in Mumbai, emerged as more than a commemorative event. It became a landmark celebration of the Chamber of Tax Consultants’ 100-year journey and its enduring influence on India’s tax, accounting and legal professions. Blending legacy with forward-looking vision, the summit stood out as a defining milestone in the organisation’s history.
Bringing together leading voices from the finance, taxation and legal sectors, the gathering created a vibrant platform for high-level discussion on India’s evolving economic and regulatory environment. Conversations extended beyond technical frameworks, focusing instead on professional ethics, responsibility and long-term institutional values that have shaped CTC’s century-long foundation.
Delivering the keynote address, Arijit Basu, Chairman Designate (Non-Executive) of IndusInd Bank, offered a thoughtful perspective on India’s growth trajectory. He emphasised that the nation’s economic progress cannot be measured solely by speed or scale. According to him, sustainable development requires ethical leadership, institutional strength and a long-term outlook, with professionals playing a critical role in maintaining this balance.
Reflecting on the significance of the milestone, CA Jayant Gokhale, President of CTC, highlighted that the centenary celebration was not merely about honouring the past. Instead, it represented preparedness for the future. He noted that the organisation’s century-old legacy demonstrates the need for continuous evolution in professional practice, particularly in areas such as governance, accountability and the adoption of emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence.
CA Vipul Choksi, Chairman of the Centenary Year Committee, linked the summit’s vision with CTC’s centenary theme. He stated that the event was carefully structured around emerging trends and present-day professional challenges. Each session, he said, was designed to encourage deeper thinking, continuous learning and confident adaptation to change.
From the keynote sessions to the engaging fireside conversation with Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, the summit delivered a consistent message that professional excellence in the modern era demands innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration and strategic thinking beyond traditional boundaries.
Highlighting the organisation’s culture of learning, CA Neha Gada, Vice-President of CTC, described it as the Chamber’s greatest strength. She observed that CTC has long served as a meeting point for experienced professionals and young talent. The Centenary Summit, she added, reflected this spirit by celebrating the organisation’s heritage while embracing new technologies and evolving professional models.
As the Chamber of Tax Consultants enters its next century, the Centenary Summit reaffirmed its commitment to thought leadership, professional integrity and future-ready excellence. The event signalled that while CTC’s past is rooted in strong tradition, its vision for the future remains equally ambitious and purpose-driven.
