Youva Stationery has introduced a new range of school supplies inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, timed with the celebrations of Shivaji Jayanti across Maharashtra. The collection includes themed longbooks and Marathi ‘Suvichaar’ pencils, bringing historical and cultural references into everyday classroom use.
The initiative aligns with Shivaji Jayanti, which commemorates the birth anniversary of the 17th-century Maratha ruler who continues to hold deep cultural and historical significance in Maharashtra. By incorporating his legacy into school essentials, Youva seeks to connect young students with a figure widely regarded as a symbol of leadership, courage and self-discipline.
The longbooks in the collection feature illustrated interpretations of key moments and symbols associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Designed primarily for middle and secondary school students, the covers blend vibrant artwork with recognisable historical motifs. The aim is to make routine academic materials visually engaging while reinforcing regional pride.
Complementing the notebooks are Marathi ‘Suvichaar’ pencils, which carry short inspirational sayings in Marathi. Some of these include quotes attributed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The pencils are expected to appeal particularly to younger students, introducing them to simple yet meaningful messages during their formative years.
According to Abhijit Sanyal, Chief Strategy Officer at Youva, the idea behind the launch was to merge contemporary product design with cultural relevance. He noted that students interact with notebooks and pencils daily, and such items can act as subtle reminders of values like determination, discipline and bravery.
The move also reflects a broader trend in the education and stationery sector. As children grow up in a digitally connected and increasingly globalised environment, parents and educators often seek ways to preserve local identity and heritage. Themed school supplies offer one such approach, embedding familiar cultural references into routine academic life.
Retailers in Maharashtra observe that products linked to historical figures or commemorative events typically see a surge in demand around specific occasions. However, if students find the designs relatable and attractive, sales often continue beyond the festive period and into the academic year.
With the new school term approaching, Youva’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj-themed longbooks and Marathi Suvichaar pencils are expected to feature prominently in back-to-school shopping across Maharashtra.
