Investing in gold and silver has always been popular among Indian investors. Traditionally, people have relied on jewellery shops or digital platforms to buy precious metals. However, concerns around pricing transparency and security have often remained. Now, investment platform Dhan is aiming to change that with the launch of its new offering, ‘Gold Vault’.
The newly introduced feature allows retail investors to purchase physical gold and silver directly at live exchange rates through Multi Commodity Exchange of India. This means investors can now buy these precious metals at the exact market price visible on the exchange, without worrying about hidden charges or price mark-ups that are often associated with traditional buying methods.
One of the key aspects that sets ‘Gold Vault’ apart is its strong focus on transparency and safety. Every transaction is executed through a fully regulated ecosystem, which includes the exchange, clearing corporation, and institutional vaults. This ensures that the process remains secure and aligned with regulatory standards set by Securities and Exchange Board of India. For investors, this translates into greater trust and confidence in how their money is being used.
Speaking about the launch, Pravin Jadhav, Founder and CEO of Dhan, highlighted the importance of building a system that prioritises security. He noted that ‘Gold Vault’ has been designed to eliminate counterparty risks while ensuring that every purchase is backed by exchange settlement and regulated storage. This approach, he believes, can help investors feel more assured about their investments.
Adding to this, Jai Prakash Gupta, COO of Dhan, explained that while the infrastructure for physical settlement already existed within MCX, it was not directly accessible to retail investors until now. By opening this pathway, the platform removes the uncertainties that are sometimes linked with digital gold investments, where the backing and storage of assets can be unclear.
Another important feature of ‘Gold Vault’ is flexibility. Investors can choose to keep their purchased gold and silver safely stored in institutional vaults, which are managed under strict regulatory supervision. Alternatively, they also have the option to take physical delivery of their assets whenever they wish. This dual benefit allows users to combine the convenience of digital investment with the assurance of owning physical assets.
Industry experts see this as a positive step towards modernising gold investment in India. Praveena Rai, Managing Director and CEO of MCX, described the initiative as a move that makes gold investment more accessible and transparent for a wider audience.
With ‘Gold Vault’, Dhan is attempting to bridge the gap between traditional and modern investment methods. By offering real-time pricing, regulatory protection, and physical ownership options, the platform is creating a new way for investors to approach gold and silver.
As more investors look for secure and transparent ways to grow their wealth, innovations like ‘Gold Vault’ could play an important role in shaping the future of commodity investments in India.
