As India braces for one of its most intense summers in recent years, rising temperatures are becoming a serious concern across several states. With forecasts predicting temperatures nearing 50°C in some regions, the need for practical and sustainable cooling solutions has become more urgent than ever. Responding to this growing climate challenge, Berger Paints India Ltd. has intensified its focus on innovative heat-reflective coatings through its Kool range, aimed at reducing heat absorption and improving indoor comfort.
The company, recognised as India’s second-largest paint manufacturer and one of the leading protective coatings brands globally, is now combining technology, social intervention, and storytelling to spread awareness about preventive cooling solutions.
Moving beyond residential applications, Berger Paints has introduced a major school transformation initiative across 30 government schools in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The initiative is being implemented with support from Smile Foundation and focuses on creating cooler and healthier learning spaces for children living in regions severely affected by extreme heat.
Under this programme, schools are being coated with products from Berger’s Kool range, specially designed to reflect heat and reduce indoor temperatures. The intervention aims to improve student comfort, support better attendance, and create a more conducive classroom environment during the harsh summer months. By targeting schools, the company hopes to address the direct impact of heat on children’s learning and well-being.
To strengthen public awareness around the initiative, Berger Paints has also launched a new brand film highlighting the impact of its cooling solutions. The film showcases products such as Berger Anti Dustt Kool, Berger Roof Kool & Seal, and Berger Tank Kool, all developed to minimise heat absorption across walls, rooftops, and water tanks during peak summer conditions.
The campaign captures the contrast between the harsh outdoor heat and cooler classroom interiors transformed through the Kool range. Featuring emotional testimonials from teachers and school principals, the film focuses on how improved cooling conditions are positively affecting students’ daily experiences. Scenes of children learning, studying, and playing comfortably inside transformed classrooms reinforce the brand’s larger message around protection and care.
The campaign concludes with Berger Paints’ signature tagline, “Paint your imagination,” and is being amplified across the company’s digital and social media platforms.
Speaking about the initiative, Abhijit Roy said that innovation must create meaningful real-world impact. He explained that the Kool range has been developed not only for individual homes but also for communities facing increasing vulnerability due to extreme temperatures. He added that the company hopes the school initiative and awareness campaign will encourage wider adoption of practical and sustainable cooling solutions.
Over the years, Berger Paints has built a strong reputation for innovation within the Indian paints and coatings industry. From pioneering tinting systems to introducing products such as Easy Clean and WeatherCoat, the company has consistently focused on technological advancement and customer-centric solutions. Its training initiatives and semi-automated painting technologies have also helped reshape industry practices across India.
As climate conditions continue to become more unpredictable, initiatives like these reflect a growing shift towards preventive and sustainable cooling methods. Berger Paints’ latest campaign highlights how innovation, community action, and awareness can come together to address one of the country’s most pressing environmental challenges.
