As of December 31, 2024, agricultural credit disbursement for the financial year 2024-25 has reached ₹19.28 lakh crore, making up 70% of the annual target. The government set a goal of ₹27.5 lakh crore for this year, which is a significant increase from ₹8 lakh crore in FY 2014-15.
The government’s focus includes a special target of ₹4.20 lakh crore for allied activities, like dairy, poultry, fisheries, and animal husbandry. This demonstrates a major push to support agriculture and related sectors.
Over the past decade, agricultural credit has grown steadily at more than 13% per year, helping boost the financial support for the rural economy. This increase in credit is expected to further aid rural development and strengthen the agricultural industry.
